Flute Practicing Tips

Practicing is about listening to yourself. When your teacher isn't there to help you listen to yourself, use a digital recorder. Record a phrase or two at a time. Listen for what can be improved. Are there notes you think you played, but somehow aren't heard? Is your rhythm steady when it needs to be? Does the quality of your tone change from register to register or note to note? What about that pesky C or C#? Are they in tune? Make the corrections and record again. Ah! Isn't that more beautiful now?
